  • PDF extraction may be limited to the first 50 pages or about 80,000 characters.

Clear about where processing happens.

TapMinutes uses on-device and cloud processing for different jobs. The route depends on your plan, feature choice, and supported system capabilities.

On your device

Recordings and meeting information are stored on your device. Basic on-device transcription keeps audio processing on the device when supported.

In your iCloud

When iCloud is enabled, meeting information may sync through your personal iCloud account. TapMinutes does not have direct access to content stored there.

For cloud features

Premium cloud transcription sends necessary audio for processing. AI generation may send transcript text and selected style instructions after the required disclosure and consent.

Cloud requests go through the TapMinutes Cloudflare proxy and use OpenAI's API. The API key is not embedded in the app. Under OpenAI's API data policy, API content is not used to train OpenAI models. Read the full Privacy Policy.

What is included in Basic?
After the seven-day Pro trial, Basic can process up to 3 meetings per day and 6 per week, with recordings or audio/video imports up to 20 minutes each. It includes supported on-device transcription, in-app transcript/minutes/notes review, Minutes/Notes/Both, built-in styles, two regenerations per meeting, and iCloud sync.
How do the Basic limits work?
The daily and weekly allowances are shared between recordings and audio/video imports. A processed recording or import counts as a meeting. Reaching either limit pauses additional Basic processing until the applicable allowance resets.
Does TapMinutes work offline?
Recording and some on-device functions can work without a network connection. Basic on-device transcription requires a supported iOS version and device capabilities. Premium cloud transcription and AI generation require network access, so TapMinutes should not be described as fully offline.
Can I import audio and video?
Yes. Basic and Pro can choose supported audio or video through the iOS document picker. Basic limits apply to Basic imports. If you request audio transcription, the media needs a compatible playable audio track.
Can TapMinutes use captions already inside a video?
TapMinutes can inspect imported media for a meaningful embedded caption or transcript track. When one is found, you can preview and reuse it or request a fresh transcription from the audio.
Which document formats are accepted?
Pro supports text-based PDF, TXT, SRT, and VTT. DOCX is not supported. PDF extraction may be capped at the first 50 pages or approximately 80,000 extracted characters.
Does TapMinutes read scanned PDFs?
TapMinutes does not include built-in OCR. A scanned or image-only PDF must be converted with an external OCR tool before TapMinutes can read its text.
What does the Apple Watch app do?
The Apple Watch app is a remote recording companion. It can start, pause, resume, stop, or cancel a recording on the paired iPhone. It is not a standalone transcription or meeting-review platform.
What happens if a recording is interrupted?
TapMinutes can detect interrupted or unfinished audio. Recover Saved Recordings is a Pro feature for processing available saved audio after an interruption.
What is stored in iCloud?
When you enable iCloud for TapMinutes, meeting information may sync through your personal iCloud account across supported Apple devices. TapMinutes does not have direct access to the content in your personal iCloud account.
What does Pro unlock?
Pro adds processing beyond Basic count and duration limits, premium cloud transcription, copy/share/export, PDF creation and sharing, folders/tags/bookmarks, read aloud, unlimited regeneration and custom presets, backup and restore, Recover Saved Recordings, custom PDF branding, and PDF/TXT/SRT/VTT import.
What do the one-time purchases unlock?
When available in the app, the Custom Preset Pack unlocks up to three custom presets without Pro. Custom PDF Branding unlocks a company name and logo without an active Pro subscription, but PDF creation and sharing normally require Pro. Buying branding alone should not be understood as unlocking the full export workflow.
How do subscriptions renew?
TapMinutes may offer weekly, monthly, or yearly Pro subscriptions and a seven-day Pro trial when shown in the app. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled through your Apple Account settings. Current availability and pricing appear in the app and can vary by storefront or release state.
